The functional prototypes we make using the RP technologies have properties of a constructional model, with added possibility of completion and assessment of the basic product functions. They are the final stage of product designing, in which a comprehensive assessment of the solution is made, with a possibility of making corrections and changes which improve the product’s advantages, or eliminate its defects. They enable technological assessment (regarding the applied processing and assembly technologies) as well as partial assessment of functional properties.
They are also an assessment of the solution’s main functions in conditions similar to reality, with limited operational parameters. Usually, they are still not built of materials which are planned for series production.
